H-2B Visa Program

What’s the Deal with H-2B?

The Green Industry is very seasonal in most areas of the United States. Finding legal, diligent, long-term, and yet seasonal employees can be a pretty big challenge. Are you having issues in hiring new employees and looking for a legal solution? CLIP Lawn Care solves this issue by using the H-2B Visa Program. We wanted to share why it works so well for us.

Our H-2B guys are the most diligent, on time, and productive. Their focus is genuinely their work, and they want to make the most of it. We have to force our guys to fly back to visit their families every summer. They’d prefer to make more money and stay here all season.

How does the program work exactly? This federal program allows employers to temporarily hire nonimmigrants to perform nonagricultural labor or services in the US. They can only stay for a limited time, like seasonal work.

The program does have deadlines to apply and a cap of how many employees you can hire through the program. Be sure that you check out the government website that we have listed down below for all the legal details.

If it’s your first time applying for this visa, we would recommend that you hire a lawyer, or at least consult one. You can easily sign up for this program without one, but it’s better safe than sorry. You don’t want to miss out on a year’s worth of hiring under this visa because of inaccurate paperwork.

How has the Visa Program helped CLIP?

The federal H-2B Visa Program has helped CLIP Software, and it’s employees hired through this program, in many ways.

  1. Employees from low income and unsafe countries can now bring some stability to their families. Our guys have been with us for years, and are using their pay to save up to start their own companies in the future, build their families new houses, or improve their living situations at home.
  2. Local American workers aren’t interested in our industry. The seasonal outdoor work in our area only drew a handful of workers that either moved on quickly to other nonseasonal industries or barely cared about their attendance, work, or quality.
  3. Our company thrives with this model. With the diligent, high-quality work that our employees do, we can pay them much more than average for our area (usually at least 1/3 more) and still make a fantastic profit at the end of each year. Success for them AND us!
